We aim to provide a place for people interested in astronomy to meet, catch up on latest developments and share their experience and knowledge. We hold regular monthly meetings as well as regular observing events for society members. All our events are informal, and beginners and new members are encouraged to turn up and join in. A big part of out philosophy is encouraging new members and beginners to learn from more experienced members.

In addition we aim to promote interest in astronomy and space exploration and science in general through public events including public observing sessions and exhibitions. We also support local events including Cockermouth Georgian Fair, Grasmere Festival of Stars, and the upcoming Keswick Mountain Festival in May 2007. Society members also undertake lectures and other events for other organizations including Women's Institute, Scouts, Guides, and other astronomy societies.

For more information on our meetings and events check out the other sections of our website.
